At Home with Lisa: Furnace Filter Replacement Program

A couple of weeks ago, I went over to my sister’s house and helped her replace her furnace filter. It was easy to do and changing the filters regularly will help her furnace run better. Since I have baseboard heat, I hadn’t thought too much about furnace filters before then.

But like most people, she’s busy. I’m sure changing her furnace filter is not at the top of her list of things to do, and I don’t want to remind her when to do it. Dirty filters force your furnace to work a lot harder—like all major appliances, the harder they work, the more energy they use.

Luckily, Avista has an option to help us out.

The Furnace Filter Replacement Program can help my sister with three options.

The first option, every three months, she can get a reminder in her email inbox telling her it’s time to change her filter. The second option is that she can get coupons and promo codes for the filters along with her email reminder.

The third option is pretty handy: she can sign up to have a new filter sent to her every three months through one of Avista’s partners, Second Nature. The shipping is free and being an Avista customer means she’ll get a discount on the filters.

Now that she’s signed up for that, she can free up space on her calendar.

Lisa, an Avista customer, bought her 1910 house because she loved the old-world character, some of which doesn’t make her house very energy efficient. Lisa is sharing her experience on taking some simple do-it-yourself improvements to inspire others to do the same. You’ll find her stories right here every Tuesday.
