Avista will collaborate with you and your contractor to collect information such as your current natural-gas equipment, additional planned equipment, minimum inlet gas pressure required by the generator, and the BTU rating of the generator. Check with your electric utility provider for any additional electrical requirement. Your generator must be a minimum of three feet from all sides of the gas meter and away from any windows.
The contractor will obtain the required permits and complete all the work downstream of the gas meter. Avista will complete the installation of a larger gas meter, and restore service if needed. - Check with your Electric Utility Provider to verify if there are electrical requirements for emergency/stand-by generation.
Once these steps are complete, you can confirm with your contractor to move forward. Avista will complete the installation of your larger gas meter, if needed, and service restoration.
