More about the grant
The My Clean Energy (MCE) Grant provides funding for new, non-residential solar installations in Avista’s Washington and Idaho electric service areas.
It is funded through Avista’s My Clean Energy program, a voluntary program that allows customers to support renewable energy through their monthly bill. A portion of these customer-supported funds is set aside each year to help pay for local solar projects. This grant turns customer participation into real community investment.
What the grant covers
Grant funding may be used for solar installation costs, including equipment, labor, permitting and interconnection fees.
The grant funding cannot be used for batteries, unrelated construction work or ongoing maintenance.
Other funding sources may be used alongside this grant. Matching funds are not required.
In 2026, $405,000 is available to support projects. Funding amounts vary each year based on customer participation in the My Clean Energy program.
Individual projects may receive up to $60,000 in grant funding.
Learn more about the grant in this video recording of a recent public meeting held with community-based organizations.
Project qualification and review
Projects are competitively reviewed for technical readiness and cost.
To be considered, projects must:
- Be sized to match the facility’s energy use
- Include space for a solar production meter
- Provide more than one contractor bid
Your project may be eligible if:
- Your project site receives Avista electric service
- Your project is non-residential
- Your solar installation is new
Priority consideration will be given to projects that serve the public, including schools, nonprofit 501C3 organizations, community facilities and tribal entities. While nonprofit status is encouraged, it is not required.
Applicants typically receive an award decision or waitlist notice within 30 days of submitting.
