Compressed Air Leak Reduction Pilot
We’ll help you find and fix compressed air leaks — at no cost.
Leaks drive up run time, energy use and equipment wear. Our limited‑time pilot helps eligible Avista customers locate and repair compressed air leaks to reduce waste, protect equipment and lower operating costs.
Why fix common air leaks?
Compressed air leaks are common and often overlooked. They force compressors to work harder than needed.
Fixing leaks is one of the fastest, most cost‑effective ways to boost performance.
Even small leaks can:
- Increase compressor run hours
- Raise energy usage and costs
- Accelerate wear on equipment
- Lead to frequent maintenance and repair
Why does this matter long‑term?
A tighter system helps you stay ahead of long‑term costs by reducing energy usage and maintenance needs.
When compressors run less, equipment often lasts longer and needs fewer repairs.
Over time, that can mean:
- More stable operating costs
- Fewer unplanned maintenance issues
- Better reliability for production
- A more sustainable operation
What does the pilot cover?
We’re focused on helping you reduce compressor load, improve reliability and lower long‑term costs.
Eligible customers receive:
- A compressed air leak assessment
- Leak detection using advanced acoustic imaging
- Estimated air loss for each leak
- Repairs completed by an Avista‑approved contractor
- No cost to participate

Frequently asked questions
At no cost, you will receive:
- An initial scan of your compressed-air system
- Repairs of identified leaks to your compressed-air system
- A post-repair scan of your compressed-air system
Please note that each component is scheduled on a different day.
During an onsite visit, a technician will scan the compressed-air system at your facility with an acoustic imager to identify leak locations. The findings will be outlined in a report and describe leak severity, estimated losses and recommended repairs – so you have insight into potential cost and energy savings.
A second scan (post-repair scan) will be conducted after repairs are completed. It will provide a comprehensive analysis of the work. You will receive copies of both scans.
Avista’s pilot program partner, Columbia Electric Supply (CES), may coordinate with their services division (AIMM) and/or Apollo (independent company CES works closely with), and will arrive at your site on the day and time you agree upon.
Depending on the issue, the technician may need to isolate part of your compressed air system or plan a full system shutdown to safely perform the work. The team will walk you through what to expect, any operational impacts and the estimated timeline for completing the repair(s).
Many facilities see reduced energy use, lower electric bills, decreased compressor strain and improved system reliability. Identifying and repairing leaks often leads to immediate and measurable efficiency gains.
Repairs must be completed by Columbia Electric Supply (CES) or another Avista-approved contractor to ensure quality, safety and consistency with the pilot program requirements.
Each facility and air compressor system is different. Typically, each initial scan for leaks can take between one half and one full day.
Repairs generally take 45 to 90 calendar days.
Please submit a Participation Agreement and Compressor Data Sheet to Peter Velazquez at Peter.Velazquez@avistacorp.com or call (800) 227-9187.
Avista will review your submission within two business days and inform you of acceptance into the pilot.
Once approved, we will notify our partner, Columbia Electric Supply (CES), to contact you to schedule your first scan.
Your repair appointment and post-repair scan will also be scheduled by CES and their affiliates, AIMM and/or Apollo.
