    Getting connected

Avista – here when you need us.

Net metering allows you to use the electricity that you generate to offset your energy usage and remain connected to the Avista grid to deliver any additional electric needs.

    How does it work?

    Illustration of onsite generation

Your system’s generation will vary throughout the day and year. A net metering agreement allows you to ‘bank’ kilowatt hour (kWh) electricity credits that might otherwise go unused. The kWh credits are held in reserve to be applied to a subsequent bill period.

This bank is reset each year in accordance with state legislation, so it is important to size your system appropriately.

If you’ve evaluated your options and are ready to generate renewable energy to power your home or business, the next step is applying for interconnection and net metering benefits. All applications require an upfront processing fee of $100 at time of submission. Payments can be mailed to:

    Solar at Avista
    1411 E. Mission Ave.
    Spokane, WA
    99202
    Mail Stop 15

If your system will be larger than 100 kW, learn more.

Once your interconnection application has been complete - What’s next?

Avista will confirm receipt of your completed application within five business days and notify you of approval within 20 business days. If you are NOT approved, we will contact you to discuss the required modification needed for approval.

If you still aren’t sure how or if you would like to proceed, please review our additional resources to answer your questions, or reach out to us at solar@avistacorp.com.
