Home Insulation Program
Tired of chilly drafts in winter or hot spots in summer?
Insulation is your first line of defense. It seals up hidden gaps in attics, walls, and floors—keeping unwanted air out and comfort in. That means lower energy bills and a cozier home year-round. And with our trusted contractors, installation and paperwork are taken care of for you.
Our Home Insulation Program can help address your insulation concerns.
Here’s how it works:
- We’ll assign one of our trusted insulation contractors to your inquiry. You can verify their participation in our program below.
- Your assigned contractor will measure and inspect your home’s existing attic, wall, and floor insulation.
- If your home could benefit from better insulation, you’ll receive an estimate for the total cost to upgrade your insulation, with no obligation to move forward.
- If your existing insulation meets program eligibility requirements, your estimate will include money-saving rebates to reduce the cost to upgrade.
- If your existing insulation does not meet program eligibility requirements, your estimate will not include rebates, but you can still choose to upgrade.
- To move forward with upgrades, simply contact your assigned contractor to accept the estimate.
- Your contractor will handle all the paperwork and installation, keeping the process simple and stress-free.
Start saving in 3 easy steps.
1. See what’s using energy at home with our Energy Manager tool
Does someone in your home take long showers, do a lot of laundry, or have a lot of gaming equipment? Our Energy Manager tool helps you see what’s happening with the energy your home is using, so you can make changes that fit your needs.
2. Sign up for our Home Insulation Program

What if a contractor wants to join the program?
At this time, we are not accepting new contractors for the Home Insulation Program. If enrollment opportunities become available in the future, we will provide updated information on how to apply.
To qualify for our Home Insulation Program, you must:
- Be an existing Avista residential customer
- Be applying for your primary residence in an existing single family, duplex, triplex or fourplex home
- New construction does not qualify
- Meet pre-existing and post-projects insulation levels (R-values)
- Washington customers: Heat your home with Avista electricity or natural gas via electric or natural gas furnace, natural gas boiler, electric cadet (wall heater), radiant heating, baseboards or heat pump
- Idaho customers: Heat your home with Avista electricity via electric furnace, electric cadet (wall heater), radiant heating, baseboards or heat pump
This program does not require income qualifications. All eligible customers can apply.
The estimate you receive from your contractor will tell you what the R-value of your existing insulation is, as well as the new R-value, should additional insulation be suggested.
