    • New Post Falls Landing Park Opens

      Constructed in 2021 along the Spokane River across from Avista’s Post Falls North Channel Dam, the Post Falls Landing is a joint effort between the City of Post Falls and Avista to provide public recreation and to support the continued maintenance and operation of the dam.

    • Local Treasures with Pia: Music Conservatory of Sandpoint continues to flourish

      Since 2019, Music Conservatory of Sandpoint has been filling the old Sandpoint City Hall with music and improvements. The next step in renovation is to replace all the windows in the historic building to make it more energy efficient, with the goal to turn it into a truly green building.

      For over 20 years, the Foundation has made a real difference by working closely with the communities it serves. Since it was founded, the Avista Foundation has given more than $17 million to various organizations.  It’s important to note that the Avista Foundation does not receive funding from Avista Utilities customers through rates. It is a separate, non-profit organization established by Avista Corp.

    • New law in Washington and Idaho aims to protect utility workers

      House Bill 1380 in Washington and Senate Bill 1321 in Idaho were signed into law in 2019 and 2022. These bills provide an additional layer of safety for utility workers because they will increase the penalty for a person convicted of assaulting a utility worker while the worker is engaged in their usual work activities.

    • Avista Foundation supports youth development program at Fresh Soul

      A Spokane restaurant in east central Spokane is serving up more than some of the best BBQ ribs, gumbo, and fried chicken in town. Fresh Soul also offers a youth job training program where teens gain restaurant experience, life skills, and paycheck. The Avista Foundation was honored to award a grant to the non-profit-run restaurant to help support its youth development program.
