To help bring natural gas to your multifamily projects, Avista is offering incentives to developers that pay the incremental cost - up to $3,000 per unit - for natural gas heat and/or natural gas water heat installations. Multifamily is defined as 5 or more units per building. Qualifying water heating applications can either be individual natural gas hot water heaters in each unit or a central natural gas hot water system. Participants must sign a contract, prior to construction and complete their project within two years.

The green motors initiative ensures quality rewinding that results in the motor maintaining its original efficiency, which is commonly called a "green rewind."
The Green Motors Practices Group (GMPG) is a non-profit organization that identifies, promotes, and verifies only excellent member motor service centers. These companies are committed to consistently producing repair/rewinds that retain or improve reliability and efficiency, and provide on-site motor driven systems assistance.
Incentives of $1 per horsepower are available for Green Rewinds of NEMA rated motors from 15 hp - 500 hp. Incentives are paid as an instant rebate on your invoice from a participating service center.
For more information, visit The Green Motors Practices Group or contact your account executive.
Line Isolation
Do you have rotary screw compressors, 15 horsepower or more, that are not turned off daily? If so, we can save you money and energy with programmable line isolation. Installing programmable line isolation devices on your compressors can eliminate demand caused by leaks and timer drains. At no cost to you, you can have a licensed contractor install a programmable line isolation device on your compressor(s) and complete pre- and post-logs of your energy use.
Leak Detection
Incentives are available to commercial customers that perform a preliminary acoustic imaging detection audit, fix leaks and follow up with a final audit to verify repaired leaks. Incentives are paid on savings.

Site-specific (custom) incentives are available for many energy efficiency projects that fall outside the parameters of our other prescriptive programs which result in verifiable energy savings. Incentives do not apply to behavioral modifications. The incentive is based on the first year energy savings in kilowatt-hours.
Avista offers incentives for projects with measure lives of ten years or greater based upon the simple payback of the individual project, relative to the current energy code or industry practice that is applicable to the project. Simple payback is defined as the incremental capital cost associated with the energy efficiency of the project divided by the energy savings per year. Energy savings are calculated using the current retail energy rates.
The incentives shall be as follows:
Simple payback period |
Incentive level (cents per first year kWh saved) - Minimum measure life of 10 years |
Under 15 years |
$0.23 |
Over 15 years |
$0.00 |
Measures | Simple payback period |
Incentive level (dollars per first year therm saved) - Minimum measure life of 10 years |
Natural gas efficiency |
Under 15 years |
$3.50 |
Over 15 years |
$0.00 |
Incentives will be capped at 70% percent of the incremental project cost for all projects with simple paybacks less than 15 years.
To be eligible for incentives, you need to contact Avista prior to purchasing any equipment or services. Site specific Incentives will not be paid on projects that are already under construction or that are being developed without Avista's involvement.
